Birdcages are so pretty! They look so delicate and beautiful, elaborate yet simple. They are the perfect centrepiece. The birdcage is wonderful as they look spectacular, not

decorated hanging together from a large tree at different levels, or with candles on a walk way lighting the way. But, as we said before they also make a fabulous centrepiece with or without flowers. In the picture above we have wrapped a paper flower garland around and placed a candle inside. Equally as effective is placing a full flower arrangement inside.

Also included in the centrepiece above is vintage books. Vintage leather books have a strange, timeless elegance that really enhances a vintage display, centrepiece or arrangement. They can add height and contrast to the delicacy of the pretty china and delicate flowers as shown below.

In a world full of technology and iPads there is something beautiful and grounding in the vintage book. It is historical, almost comforting as well as the decorative benefit.

So start raiding the charity shops, or get up early and head down to the Sunday car boot and grab a bargain!
